Tony Khamly’s Acura NSX is a local Southern California resident and once we set eyes on his twin turbo NSX it was a no brainier that we had to feature it. This 1992 NSX with the C30A engine is a perfect build vehicle as you can avoid the headaches of the ODB-2 on the newer models.

Starting with the exterior you can see GT-Rom front lip and VIS NSX-R carbon fiber hood allow the car to really stand out looking at it from the front. To compliment this aggressive stance Marga Hills carbon fiber side skirts were installed. Moving to the rear and completing the exterior package is a Backyard Special carbon fiber trunk and a Dreamsport Carbon R wing.

The C30A powerplant we mentioned earlier was not enough power for Tony and he quickly decided a twin turbo kit was quickly in order. He placed an order for two Garrett GT28 ball-bearing turbos that were mounted under the rear bumper. Two TiAL 38mm wastegates dump the turbine driving gases while the two Greddy S-Type blow-off valves vent the air back out. Custom built intercooler piping was needed for the two side mount intercoolers put in the rear bumper as well. To maintain this whole turbo kit on an expensive NSX motor he called on AEM for their quality Engine Management system.

With his gorgeous exterior setup and his twin turbo system providing more power than Acura engineers could of even dreamed of when producing the car he needs a good overhaul in his suspension/braking area as well. Buddy Club coilovers start the new suspension process along with sever Comptech links and bars. NRG provided some engine torque dampening with it’s engine dampeners. Comptech SS brake lines connect to the stock brake kit which was upgraded with Brembo cross-drilled rotors and Axxis Street/Track pads. Very rear 18×9.5 (rear) and 18×8 Work Termist S1C’s put all the power to the ground with the help of Dunlop Sport FM901’s in 265/35/18 (rear) and 215/35/18’s (front).

Acura NSX is discontinued!

December 17th, 2008

Honda CEO Takeo Fukui announced that production and R&D is officially halted  on the new 2010 Acura NSX. This V10 powerhouse was set to shake up the exotic car market just like the Nissan Skyline had done. The prototype ran a 7:37 at the Ring already and Honda really seemed like it was going to pack the biggest punch. Acura was also set to launch in Japan as a luxury brand but that was also canceled for the new year. The first V10 NSX was going to reinvent the Honda brand on a level of performance but instead all they will be coming out with soon is more hybrids.

This video is a clip from a Best Motoring film that took place at the Japanese race track Tsukuba. A 5 lap shootout between R35 Nissan Skyline, Porsche 997 turbo, Porsche 997 GT3, Honda NSX Type-R, and a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. Less than four full seconds separates the field in the end with a fairly close 1/2 finish.

2010 Acura NSX Rendering from 0-60 Magazine

December 3rd, 2008

According to Jon Sibal he was commissioned by 0-60 Magazine to create a render of the 2010 Acura NSX from the spyshots you could find on Autoblog and some other automotive information sites. Jon opted for a JGTC style mock up which really makes the rendering stand out ever more with the Takata green look and glowing brake rotors. Hopefully this is close to what the 2010 NSX will come out like for all of us Acura fans that still have a little hope in the brand as they try to tackle BMW. If you want to see the renderings you can pick up the Winter 2008 issue of 0-60 Magazine with a white Lamborghini on the cover.
