The guys at Maisto Toys sent me this present the other day that I wanted to share with you guys. It is from the Premiere Edition 1:18 diecasts which you can find online. I cannot even show you the box because I ripped it open so fast and promptly placed it to my desk instead of in my diecast car collection. The silver SLR McLaren has a hood and trunk that open and really is quite an amazing replica of the real car. The under hood work is fantastic and detailed showing the Mercedes 5.4L supercharged V8 engine. Add these 1:18 diecasts from Maisto Toys to your wish list!

A true Lamborghini fan probably has to pick his jaw up off the ground right now but these black and white stills are just breath taking of the Lamborghini factory from the 1960’s. The car above is a Lamborghini Miura is the car above was the car that set the mid-engine layout standard for future Italian machines. Only 764 were built in history from the Lamborghini factory. You can enjoy more photos over at Jalopnik who put together this whole piece.

Matte has become a popular accessory to any luxury car on the market these days it seems like and even camo has become a small trend in the market. Never before have we seen a matte camo paint job on a car. Not too much information can be found on the car with our little research since everywhere we seem to find the car isn’t in English. With some better looking wheels this car would be a Mercedes of choice for me!

Three things I picked up this week to help us survive/cover the Gumball 3000. A new Blackberry, a Flip HD camera, and a Valentine 1 concealed display.

1. Blackberry- You need one to be on a cross country trip. My iPhone and ATNT are worthless and so are most networks between Vegas and Dallas. New Mexico/Arizona have huge dead zones which are something I am not willing to risk on our journey. Sprint has it’s own network which has been pretty well built out in these random areas of the nation. So hopefully between this puppy and the iPhone we can make it safely and stay in contact with whoever we need too.

2. Flip Camera – This one is an easy choice. It records High Def internally and costs $200. When you are limited on space on a trip this is a great way to capture video.

3. Valentine One – If you ask anyone that has been on the Gumball 3000 before you must be running a Valentine One if your going to travel across the United States. The main unit operates like any radar/laser detector on the market but this addition allows your main unit to have no lights or data on it. You place this concealed display on our gauge bezel or down by your shifter and you are no longer broadcasting (especially at night) that you are running a radar detector.

Westford, MA (April 15, 2009) - PUMA® takes Gumball 3000 to the streets and the web with
product designed exclusively for the 3000-mile “coast to coast,” celebrity-studded event. As official
sponsor of the 2009 Gumball 3000 Rally, PUMA will release a brand new motorsport sneaker in
celebration of the global event as well as a series of limited edition t-shirts.

Designed in collaboration with Gumball 3000, the PUMA Speed Cat 2.9 Mid Gumball is a black and
silver leather and mesh sneaker featuring a co-branded tongue and foot bed highlighting the cities along
the Gumball 3000 route. Each driver will be given this exclusive style for their coast-to-coast adventure.
In addition, 200 pairs of the PUMA Speed Cat 2.9 Mid Gumball will be available exclusively at
styles in June 2009, as part of their fall motorsport collection. The Speed Cat 2.9 is an evolution of a
classic iconic silhouette the Speed Cat, but updated for today’s urban consumer. True to form, it still
incorporates classic characteristics from the original yet fused with updated components. Details include
original Speed Cat outsole tread inspired by motorsport tires, the rounded heel for better contact and
functionality for hitting high speed maneuvers, the vulcanized outsole; the reinterpreted PUMA toe cat

It’s now time to forget everything you have ever known about the Need for Speed series. The new gaming engine that is utilized in Need for Speed Shift is three years in the making and it is going to re-invent simulation racing games as we know it. We were invited to a special sample test of the game where the EA staff let us play with the Audi RS4, Porsche GT2, and a Zonda. This game is going to win surely on the details.

The interior details have to be the most amazing thing I have ever seen. While your racing in car you can use the secondary joystick on the Xbox 360 to rotate your drivers head around the cabin. You can look down and watch your driver operating the pedals. While looking at your gauge cluster you will notice the revs on your tachometer operate just like a real car as the NFS team eliminated the smooth arcade like motions of simulation games past and now have bouncing revs like a real vehicle.

The real amazing game play is when you focus outside the interior. The game makes you feel like your practically driving these expensive machines around a racetrack. On the faster cars like the GT2 and Zonda the car presents a great representation of acceleration G’s and braking G’s. The cars also represent an accurate version of understreer/oversteer that with some practice you can steer out of very easily. It just adds to the simulation level and realistic feel of this Need for Speed game.

My favorite feature is when you exit the in-car mode it keeps the car’s factory gauges on screen instead of putting some generic boring gauges on screen when your out of car. So if your playing with a Porsche GT2 and you leave in car mode you still see the GT2 factory gauges for speed and RPM’s.

I found this gem sitting in a parking deck in Burbank, California yesterday while getting some shopping done. Pardon my ignorance on classic Jaguar’s but from what I can tell it is a Jaguar Mark VIII which was in production from 1956–1958. In that three year period only 6,227 were produced and this one was in pretty excellent condition. For a 4,000lb+ 50’s machine the car was rumored to have a top speed in excess of 106mph with a motor that only made 210bhp. A pretty impressive machine to be found just sitting in a parking deck in the valley. I couldn’t really find any good consistant pricing but I am assuming this thing would fall in around the $50,000 range if sold on the market.
