I remember years ago back before YouTube and Streetfire the automotive scene would trade/share/post videos in .mpeg or .wmv formats on car forums and other places. Back in that area I remember the Norcal guys had one of the best street racing scenes I had ever seen. This video brings me back to those Bay Area memories as a yellow Porsche Carrera GT battles a 2009 Corvette ZR1, a Porsche 911 997 Evotech Kit, and a camera car Nissan GT-R.
Corvette Motrosports just put up a great video from the Adria 2008 event in Adria, Italy where they took home a win in the FIA GT1 class. Some tough battles and a nice spin out from an Aston Martin are all included in this five minute highlight reel.
Day 1 is now complete which was a fairly small leg of 250 miles. We started at the Santa Monica Pier and made a swing through Orange County for the D1GP event. After leaving Orange County it was a straight dash up I-15 to Las Vegas, Nevada. We have some great photos of the Brabus Mercedes SL, purple Audi R8, the Bugatti’s and much much more!
This gorgeous photograph of a Corvette Z06 is from the same company that we recently featured it’s carbon fiber wheel setup on a Ferrari F430. 360 Forged proves with this photo and wheel setup that they know how to make wheels and they are aware how to put together some amazing luxury setups. This Corvette is pure gorgeous on these wheels and the photograph was taken in Miami, Florida. While most of the country is freezing to death people in Miami are just having fun in the sun like always.
The most expensive car sold on Day 1 of the Barrett Jackson auction was this 1990 Corvette ZR-1 coupe prototype. It sold for $150,700 to the highest bidder on day one. The car was a concept which included GTP racing Corvette technology and it was the concept that pioneered the “active suspension.” Since the car is a concept it has no VIN and doesn’t comply with local/federal traffic laws meaning the $150,700 investment will go into someone’s car collection it would appear. This car was lot #82 and we are guessing someone else will sell a car for much more by the end of the auction so we will stay tuned!
Garage 419 takes a Corvette ZHZ (Hertz Rental Special) and puts nitrous on it to race the “Godzilla” Nissan GTR and you might be shocked at the results. Streetfire.net provides a great player for this video and aside from the nine minutes of starting antics you get to see a well fought Domestic Vs. Import battle take place on the 1/8th mile drag strip in San Diego.
Jay Leno has scored the GM VIN number 00001 for his Corvette ZR1. Lucky for us Jay Leno knows how to make amazing online videos unlike other “moguls” such as Puff Daddy and Kayne West. He produced a ten minute love affair with the most powerful car in the hundred years of General Motors history. Jay Leno has always been well known as a huge GM supporter but I think beyond the small sales pitch within this video you can really see his passion and excitement for the new ZR1 and Corvette culture in general. This really gives the Corvette guys something to be excited about, time to turn in that Z06 and upgrade!
