If your in the area of Vista, California or looking for a solid Saturday morning driven then head over to HRE Wheels for quite an Open House. The Open House includes a factory tour showing how these wheels are designed, manufactured, and finished in house right here in California.
So at a private party in downtown Los Angeles we got to grab hold of the Xbox 360 new Kinect system. Forza Motorsport 3 created an interactive game where you race a Ferarri F458 Italia down a mountain pass and acquire points from passing people. You just simply put your hands at 10 and 2 and steer the Ferrari. The gas and brake operate by itself as your steer around the cars in the pass. It was great fun and we even managed to score 200,000 points which was higher than our Turn 10/Forza host. The game also had an interesting feature that let you literally do a 360 walk around of the car without your controller. You can open the doors, change the point, hop into the interior, and even crank the car without a controller and moving your hands. The game even lets you duck down to look at thing like the wheel of the vehicle. It is quite a unique feature and we cannot wait until it is made public for purchase.
A great video shot with a Canon 7D of the American LeMans race at Laguna Seca. The video features some great shots of the GT2 class including the Falken Porsche, Ferrari F-430, and the BMW teams. A well produced quick video featuring the fun and excitement of the ALMS series. If you haven’t been to an event in person, you should make a weekend out of an upcoming ALMS race.
A quick little street race between a Lamborghini Gallardo TT and a red Ferrari Enzo. I love when they get caught up at the light the Ferrari Enzo driver says “what’s in there?” The Lamborghini owner replies “it’s stock,” and the Enzo owners completes the conversation with “get the fuck outta here.” The Heffner Gallardo really gets up and moves. I would love to see some performance numbers on this one but for now you’ll have to enjoy the video.
You have to love these Ferarri’s with hacked up Toyota parts…… A sticker some guys on the 2010 Gumball 3000 rally were running read as above. “WARNING: This car is equipped with a Toyota gas pedal; if you see it speeding it is actually out of the driver’s control…. honest officer!” We are going to have to try this one soon on our cars.
Jalopnik I am pretty sure a few weeks ago tracked down a Ferrari Enzo in Texas that was on Craigslist. An even more pathetic listing is this Bugatti Veyron for sale in Burbank, California. I love how these dealers list $1,000,000 cars on the same website with missed connections/casual encounters as their upper class super car. Then they complain about all the flaked buyers……….. perhaps upgrade your listing to Jameslist when you have some spare time? Enjoy the screen cap because we are guessing this will come down like the Enzo listing.
The guys at Luxury4Play really had a great time throwing their own marquee Cars and Coffee day. They have a thread full of cars you don’t really want to miss.
Look at this amazing machine sitting in the pits waiting to go out for a run! These were uploaded by a fellow Flickr user we follow Brandon Perdeck. The gallery on Flickr has some more photos of the Ferrari FXX including some shots of the Ferrari 599xx in the pits as well.
We tackled the third leg of the Targa Rally today which took everyone from Los Angeles to Santa Barbra. A great pack of cars and a timed/mile route lead to a great event. Sadly, our car broke down at the 50 mile mark of a 400 mile day trip like our Gumball 3000 trip earlier this year. We crammed our video guy in another car so he could Targa Scum it and produce us some great video. Our photographer stayed with me at Mt. Frazier as we waited 4 hours for Cadillac to come rescue us and get us in a loaner. It was of course an adventure so check out our trip inside.
