The legend is coming back! Michael Schumacher is slated to take the reigns in Valencia and continue to race for the rest of the 2009 season. Is he in shape physically and mentally? I guess we will find out sooner than later when they drive into Spain.
Between all the drama that has gone on in Formula 1 this year it’s really no shock some teams are leaving. A mix of over the top politics and the fact that BMW has not done well all season we are sure are some reasons why BMW is going to exit after 2009. With a poor economic state on top of all that we are not that shocked BMW would exit this year. The real question is that is anyone going to follow the Germans out the door?
The Redbull Energy Drink Formula 1 RB5 has arrived just in time before the Formula 1 season. They are behind the Ferrari F60 unveil and the McLaren Mercedes MP4-24 which have some pretty similar new styles under the new rules and regulations set by the FIA. Redbull has dubbed this project the RB5. The car was just unveiled at the Jerez Circuit in Spain. The two 2009 Redbull drivers were present which includes Mark Weber and newly promoted driver Sebastian Vettel. Vettel comes to the team from Toro Rosso B-squad and drove a few laps in the RB5 for press and those in attendance until a gearbox problem forced Redbull to park it.
Following Toyota and the Ferrari F60 have we present to you the 2009 McLaren Mercedes MP4-24 launch. The view from this photogrpah really shows you the how small the rear aerofolia is. Like the Toyota and Ferrari you can see the gorgeous Bridgestone slicks and subtle changes from the 2008 model. Lewis Hamilton will surely be looking for a back to back defeat of team Ferrari in 2009. The only question remaining is can he do it? Find out soon as the 2009 Formula 1 season kicks off.
Clearly the bred champions of Italy have lost quite some sleep over the one point loss to McLaren in the 2008 Formula 1 system. They are already hitting the track with the new F60 Ferrari F1 machine and getting ready to win this year in 2009. Man, this should be an amazing season.
The 2009 Formula 1 season means a whole new look due to the new FIA regulations put in place. Ferrari seems to be the first team to unveil it’s new car and while skeptical to any of the FIA’s choices ever the machine looks a little better than the 2008 model. We are not quite sure how they plan to make the 2009 season more exciting since the 2008 one was won by one point in the end but we could be pleasntly pleased upon the new season.
Ferrari has dubbed the car the Scuderia Ferrari F60. A larger front wing and smaller rear aerofolia are the most noticeable exterior differences. The tires are now going to be slicks for the 2009 season as well. Enjoy the carnage in 2009 and hopefully we shall see some more passing and action on the tracks.
In what seems to be one of the most speculative talks in Formula 1 since SPECing out the series it appears accorinding to some British papers/websites that Renault driver Fernando Alonso has signed a secert closed door deal with Ferrari that goes active in 2011. He just re-signed with Renault through the 2010 season so perhaps Ferrari is waiting until they have a contract expire? If Kimi performs like he did in 2008 I think it will be clear who is getting the boot for the Ferrari team. How does this effect Renault’s team moral moving through the 09/10 season as well?
Check out this amazing Shell commercial as you watch Ferrari F1 cars fly through places like Brazil and New York City to wind up at a Shell station. As much as my F1 favoritism leans away from the red I have to admit this is an amazing commercial. Very well done and the sounds of the engine just screaming around the world really just put an amazing touch to this project.
