We tackled the third leg of the Targa Rally today which took everyone from Los Angeles to Santa Barbra. A great pack of cars and a timed/mile route lead to a great event. Sadly, our car broke down at the 50 mile mark of a 400 mile day trip like our Gumball 3000 trip earlier this year. We crammed our video guy in another car so he could Targa Scum it and produce us some great video. Our photographer stayed with me at Mt. Frazier as we waited 4 hours for Cadillac to come rescue us and get us in a loaner. It was of course an adventure so check out our trip inside.
I found these troublesome classic Mercedes browsing the Internet today which are being sold and marketed as a pair. The listing website says they are looking to grab a $1.3 million dollar cashier’s check for this pair of German ladies.
It says the cars only have around 500 miles each since complete restoration of the vehicles. With the new Mercedes being leaked it’s nice to see it’s grandfather in the Mercedes family in such nice condition. It’s time to let the pictures do the talking in this post. If your interested in purchasing these twins you can follow the link to their official website at the bottom.
There is no need to adjust your monitor color settings…you are looking at a Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG black in orange. This is by far the most loud and dare I say best looking I have ever seen an AMG Black series. According to the Flickr account where I found the product the car is sitting at the AMG Headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany.
It’s not often you can find a JDM tuner for the Mercedes Benz. The Japanese manage to do European styling in this over the top manner. Ben Schaffer posted this on his blog and I cannot stop admiring this CL550. On top of the VITT widebody kit and wheels the Japanese company makes other parts for the Mercedes Benz. The company has grills, brake kits, and exhausts for Merecedes tuners looking for a JDM touch.
Normally I never encourage anyone (including myself) to take Jeremy Clarkson seriously but his new review of the SL65 AMG black really caught my attention. The most uncomfortable car he has ever sat in which he compared to a pile of rocks. A 5 speed transmission and no electronic suspension all comes with a $299,999 price tag from Mercedes. While the SLR has a MSRP of $495,000 it is not a far comparision to the AMG black test they conducted. Watch the video for yourself and let us know what you think, was the review fair?
Wustefest 2009 was a three day event in it’s third year that took place this month in Las Vegas. It’s free to show up and this year brought the attention of over 500 cars including caravans from Canada and North Carolina. If you want to attend in 2010 the tentative date is June 4th-6th. You can find out more information about the meet at: wustefest.com. We received photos thanks to Mo Satarzadeh.
Matte has become a popular accessory to any luxury car on the market these days it seems like and even camo has become a small trend in the market. Never before have we seen a matte camo paint job on a car. Not too much information can be found on the car with our little research since everywhere we seem to find the car isn’t in English. With some better looking wheels this car would be a Mercedes of choice for me!
The Gold Rush Rally just kicked off and we have a video of all the cars before they departed on the run. The rally runs from San Francisco, Los Angeles, and ends in Las Vegas. A gold wrapped Lamborghini LM002, the “Rambo Lambo” can be spotted in the mix along with an Aerial Atom. This is a well put together video without a doubt.
Day 4 was a pretty long hike with two pit stops including the Caddy Ranch and a lunch at the Big Texas Steak Ranch. After those quick checkpoints the drivers headed south in Texas towards downtown Dallas, Texas. At the W Hotel we were treated to some A class service and a great party on the roof at Ghost Bar. Enjoy the content from Day 4.
Day 1 is now complete which was a fairly small leg of 250 miles. We started at the Santa Monica Pier and made a swing through Orange County for the D1GP event. After leaving Orange County it was a straight dash up I-15 to Las Vegas, Nevada. We have some great photos of the Brabus Mercedes SL, purple Audi R8, the Bugatti’s and much much more!
